Renew it whenever the bus cover has been off and the seal shows a set, a nick or chemical swelling. A seal that has gone hard no longer presses into the joint, and the next wash-down can reach the ESC.
Wipe the mating faces clean, seat the seal without stretching it, then close the ESC bus waterproof cover. The seal on the three-phase side is a separate part, the three-phase waterproof cover rubber seal.
