Common questions
Do I need a licence to fly one?
For a drone this size working over your own place, CASA doesn't ask for a remote pilot licence. You do need to register the drone with CASA and hold an operator accreditation, which is an online course and quiz. We can walk you through both when we set the drone up.
Which one do I need, the 4E or the 4T?
Both are the same size drone with zoom cameras. The 4T adds a thermal camera that shows animals by their body heat, which is what finds stock in scrub, shade or the dark. If you mostly work open country in daylight, the 4E does the job. If you've got timber or scrub, or want to check stock early or late, go thermal.
Will the drone spook my stock?
Stock can take a little while to get used to a drone. Start high and bring it closer over a few flights. The low-noise propellers in the kit builder are quieter around stock, and we'll go through it with you at setup.
How long does it stay in the air?
DJI rates the Matrice 4E and 4T at up to 49 minutes a battery in still air, and wind and hard flying bring that down. Every package has at least three batteries, and the charging hub that comes with the drone charges them in turn.
How does it get to me?
Kits ship free anywhere in Australia, or you can pick yours up from our Horsham or Manjimup store.
