Prices and running costs

How much does a spray drone cost in Australia?

What a DJI Agras spray drone costs depends on the model and on what comes in the box. This guide lists what we charge for every kit, explains where the extra money goes (batteries, charging, spreading and licences), and prices two realistic setups from end to end.

Prices on this page are read live from our catalogue, inc GST. Checked 21 October 2026.

The short answer

Spray drones sell on quote rather than through the cart, so we can add setup, training or licensing to the same order. The figures here are our current kit prices.

Prices by model and kit

Every option for each aircraft, cheapest first. The contents come straight from each product listing, so if a kit changes, this table changes with it.

What each kit shape means

The T100, T70P and T50 come in the same kit shapes, so once you know what you need, the choice is mostly which aircraft carries it.

  • Aircraft only. For operators adding a second aircraft to batteries and charging they already own. On its own it cannot fly a job.
  • Spray Kit. Aircraft, spraying system, controller, three batteries and a DJI charging station (the C12000 on the T100 and T70P, the C8000 on the T50). It suits a shed with the right mains supply, or a generator you already run.
  • Spray & Spread Kit. The Spray Kit plus the spreading system, so the same aircraft can put out urea, seed or other granular product.
  • Kits with Generator. The D14000iE inverter generator replaces the charging station and charges the batteries directly, so you can work paddocks with no power nearby. T50 generator kits include DJI's DB1560 adapter cable.
  • Ultimate Bundle (T100 and T70P). Four batteries, two C12000 stations, the spreader, a silenced 60 kVA diesel generator for the depot and an extra cooling station: the setup for a full-time contract operation.
  • T25P bundles. The Charger Bundle has the C8000 station; the Generator Bundle adds DJI's D6000i generator for field charging.

What drives the cost

Batteries, and how many you need

Batteries are the part of the setup you keep buying. Every kit ships with three (the Ultimate Bundles have four), which lets one fly while one charges and one cools. That rotation only keeps the aircraft moving if each flight lasts at least as long as a charge. On hot days, with heavy loads, or on a generator that is not delivering its full output, charging falls behind and a fourth battery earns its keep. Spare batteries currently cost DB2160 (T100 and T70P) ($4,080.00), DB1560 (T50) ($3,850.00) and DB800 (T25P) ($2,900.00).

Charging station or generator, and your site power

A charging station is cheaper than a generator, but only if you have power that can run it. DJI rates the T100 and T70P's C12000 station at 12,000 W on a three-phase supply and 3,000 W on single-phase, so without three-phase (at least 15 kW) it charges far more slowly. The T50's C8000 needs a single-phase supply of at least 8 kW with both 15 A leads connected. If that is not what your shed has, or you work away from it, the generator kits make sense: on a T100 the generator kit costs $2,810.00 more than the Spray Kit, on a T50 $3,460.00 more. The generator on its own is DJI D14000iE ($5,190.00), and larger depot diesels start at EXEQ 25 kVA ($7,645.00).

The spreader

Adding the spreading system to a kit costs $3,010.00 on the T100, $2,250.00 on the T70P and $2,200.00 on the T50. Bought separately later, the systems are T100 spreader ($3,010.00), T70P spreader ($2,250.00) and T50 spreader ($2,200.00), and a spreader bought on its own travels by quoted freight, where a kit ships free. If you will spread urea or seed at all, get it in the kit.

Mixing and loading

How fast you can refill decides your daily hectares as much as the aircraft does. A batching system that mixes the next load while the drone is flying is the usual upgrade for contractors. Our SCUD mixers run from the SCUD 350 ($7,480.00) to the SCUD 800 ($10,945.00).

Freight and insurance

Kits and bundles ship free anywhere in Australia. Aircraft, spreaders and generators bought on their own travel by quoted road freight, and batteries are dangerous goods with their own quoted freight (see shipping and delivery). Insurance is quoted by independent providers to suit how you operate; spray drift and third-party liability are the parts to check closely. We can arrange quotes.

Licensing and training costs

Every Agras we sell takes off above 25 kg, so CASA requires a remote pilot licence (RePL) rated for the model even on your own land. Spraying for payment also needs a ReOC. The licensing guide explains who needs what; the courses we book through our training partner currently cost:

Licensing and training prices
CoursePrice inc GSTWho it is for
RePL Sub 25 kg$2,990.00New pilots; the prerequisite for our Agras type rating flight test
RePL 7 kg to 25 kg upgrade$879.00Pilots who already hold a sub 7 kg RePL
DJI Agras type rating$890.00Every Agras pilot, for the model they are assessed on
ReOC$3,519.00Businesses spraying for payment
Contractor Kit$4,880.00RePL, type rating and ReOC booked together
Onsite Setup & Training$2,000.00A pilot commissions the whole system on your property (Victoria and southern NSW)

State chemical licences and the chemical training units behind them are separate again, and their fees are set by each state. See the spray drone licensing guide for Victoria, Western Australia and the other states.

Running costs

We would rather not quote a cost per hectare we cannot back up: it swings with your water rate, block shape, refill speed and how many hectares you fly a year. These are the pieces that published figures do support.

  • Battery wear. DJI's launch material for the T50 says its batteries are covered for up to 1,500 charge cycles or 12 months, whichever ends first. As a planning figure only, a DB1560 at $3,850.00 spread over 1,500 cycles is about $2.57 per charge. Heat, deep discharges and rough handling shorten real life.
  • Generator fuel. DJI rates the D14000iE's reference fuel use at 500 mL per kWh. A DB2160 holds about 2.1 kWh (41 Ah at 52 V), so a 30 to 95% charge puts roughly 1.4 kWh back in: about 0.7 L of petrol per charge before any conversion losses.
  • Wear parts. Propellers, nozzles, seals and pump parts are consumables on a working aircraft. Look up current prices in the parts finder.
  • Registration and renewals. CASA charges a $40 levy per drone over 500 g used for business, and registration lasts 12 months. A ReOC is first issued for 12 months and renewals run for up to three years, each with a CASA fee. State chemical licences have their own renewal cycles.
  • Insurance and servicing. Annual premiums depend on your cover and history; between-season servicing and crash repairs are handled at our Horsham and Manjimup workshops.

Two example setups

Two common starting points, priced from today's catalogue. They are examples, not recommendations: your blocks, power and crew decide the right setup.

A landholder spraying their own paddocks

Mains power at the shed, broadacre and pasture work, one pilot who has never held a drone licence, and no paid work for neighbours, so no ReOC.

Own-land setup
DJI Agras T50 Spray Kit$37,480.00
RePL Sub 25 kg course$2,990.00
DJI Agras type rating (T50)$890.00
Onsite Setup & Training$2,000.00
Total inc GST$43,360.00

On smaller or steeper blocks, the same setup built on the T25P Charger Bundle comes to $25,780.00. Either way, add CASA registration, your state's chemical training and licences, and insurance.

A contractor working away from mains power

Paid spraying and spreading on other people's properties, charging from a generator on the trailer, a fourth battery as a buffer, and a mixer to keep refills quick.

Add state business and pilot chemical licences, insurance with spray drift cover, and the trailer, water cartage and vehicle you already run. A contractor working from a depot with three-phase power might look at the T100 Ultimate Bundle ($63,430.00) instead.

Finance and tax

If you would rather spread the cost, we refer enquiries to independent equipment finance providers, with terms of up to seven years and repayments that can be structured around the season: see drone finance.

On tax, check with your accountant before you buy. As a guide to what to ask: the ATO says that from 1 July 2026, small businesses with an aggregated turnover under $10 million can immediately deduct eligible depreciating assets that cost less than $20,000, applied per asset, and assets at or above that go into the small business pool at 15% in the first year and 30% after (ATO, updated 27 August 2026). If your business is registered for GST and claims the full credit, the ATO measures the cost without GST (how GST applies). How a kit is treated, and whether any of this applies to you, is your accountant's call. Thresholds change, so check the ATO page for the year you buy in.

Still weighing it up? The buyer's guide walks through choosing a model, and a demo day lets you see the whole setup working before you spend anything.
