This thin washer takes up end play on the camshaft so the shaft does not rub straight on the cover as it turns. Look for a scored, worn or missing washer whenever the cover is lifted, and keep a spare on hand for any camshaft or crankcase gasket job, since it is easy to drop or lose once the cover is off. D14000iE units built with a Rato engine take different engine parts, so check the engine label before ordering.
