Typical signs: it clicks without cranking, does nothing at all, or keeps the starter running after the engine fires. Check the battery charge, terminals and ground cable first, as a flat battery or loose earth acts the same. Disconnect the starter battery and note the leads before removing it.
Ref 26 also lists a base starter motor relay. Check the code on your old relay, or contact us with the generator's serial number and a photo. Rato-engined units take different parts, so check the engine label.
