Rubber left in sun, heat and fuel vapour goes hard and splits over time, and once the cover is torn, dust and moisture can get into the switch. Replace it as soon as it cracks, and fit a new switch button too if the button itself is damaged. Disconnect the starter battery before working behind the panel. DJI catalogues this cover as a Zongshen (ZS) version part, and D14000iE units built with a Rato engine take different engine parts, so check the engine label and the code on the old cover before ordering.
